About Us

Wimborne Musical Theatre - Company for 'Hello Dolly' 2009
Wimborne Musical Theatre was formed in the 1960's
by a group of musical enthusiasts who wanted to pass their love
of the medium on to local audiences, and endulge their passion while
doing it! In the early days, as Broadstone Light Operatic Society,
the company mixed pure musical theatre, performing productions such
as Brigadoon and The Pajama Game with light operatic and 'G&S'
favourites, such as HMS Pinafore and Die Fledermaus.
The company has evolved over the years, with a move
to the Tivoli Theatre as their main performance venue and the significant
decison to change the company name to Wimborne Musical Theatre,
but the original aims of the society remain the same. Some of the
founding members are still with the company, although they have
been joined over time by some equally enthusiastic new members,
and this is the company that are performing our latest show.
The company continues to go from strength to strength,
producing critically and commercially successful versions of some
old favourites, such as My Fair Lady and The Sound of
Music, but is also becoming better known for its winter shows,
which emphasise the excellent standards and varied talents of company
members.
If you would like to become involved in the company,
either as a performing member or as part of our backstage crew,
we'd love to hear from you.
Either come along to one of our rehearsals at the Merley Community
Centre (Google
Map), starting at 7.45pm on a Thursday evening, or just give
us a call! |
